2012 NFL Mock Draft: Detroit Selects Jonathan Martin With 23rd Pick

In the latest edition of Ryan Van Bibber's 2012 NFL Mock Draft on SB Nation, the Detroit Lions select Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin with the 23rd overall pick.

Martin was once considered the second best tackle in the draft behind USC's Matt Kalil, but questions about his strength have dropped him on most expert's draft boards. He is 6-foot-5 and 312 pounds, but completed just 20 repetitions of the 225-pound bench press at Stanford's Pro Day.

Here's what Van Bibber had to say about the pick:

The Lions need youth and depth on the outside. Pundits are divided on Martin, who once was considered the second-best tackle in the draft. In Detroit, he can work behind Jeff Backus for a year or take over when Gosder Cherilus becomes more than they can handle.

Martin did a fantastic job protecting Andrew Luck's blindside at Stanford the past two seasons, earning First Team All-Pac 10/12 honors is 2010 and 2011.
