2012 NFL Draft: Lions' Fifth-Round Pick Chris Greenwood A Longtime Detroit Fan

Chris Greenwood liked the Detroit Lions even before they became his employer.

The News Herald, a newspaper covering the Downriver region, ran a story Monday about how Chris Greenwood, the Lions' fifth-round in last week's NFL Draft, has long been a Lions fans.

From the article:

He was at a party at his auntie's house in Flint when he got the word that he was now a member of the Lions, the team he's cheered for his whole life.

"I was actually on the phone and they were all gathered around and they saw my name scroll across the bottom of the screen and it was an eruption,'' Greenwood said.

The 6-1, 193-pound Greenwood played at Albion, a Division III school, after attending Detroit's Martin Luther King High School.

Greenwood had two interceptions last season, returning one of them for a touchdown. He was clocked at 4.42 in the 40.
