The Detroit Lions made a minor roster switch at the cornerback position on Tuesday, signing Michigan State defensive back Ross Weaver to take the place of recently released corner Dontrell Johnson, a second-year player who team originally acquired on waivers last month:
The Lions have released CB Dontrell Johnson and signed CB Ross Weaver. Weaver was with the team on the practice squad last year.

Claimed from Jacksonville back in June, the 24-year-old Johnson clearly didn't fit into the team's plans heading into the preseason, and spent less than one full month on the roster. Weaver, a Southfield, Michigan native who went on to star with the Spartans, has played for both the Lions' and Dallas Cowboys' practice squads in his brief career but has yet to see NFL game action.
