Jahvid Best Injury: Lions RB To Start Regular Season On PUP List?

There is bad news for Detroit Lions all-purpose running back Jahvid Best, who is apparently going to stay on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list. If he continues to be designated for the PUP, he will miss the first six games of the regular season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted out the news earlier Wednesday. Best has been dealing with the after-effects of a concussion and is some time away from returning to the field.

Best, a first-round pick of the Lions in 2010, amassed more than 1,000 combined rushing and receiving yards as a rookie and scored six touchdowns. But he was limited to six games last season (after all 16 the year before). Best has 945 career rushing yards over his two seasons in the NFL.

With a major concussion to deal with, the question could become not when Best is able to return but if. But the Lions can only hope Best recovers by Week 7, when he is eligible to play. Until then, at least for the time being, Kevin Smith tops the Lions' depth chart at running back.
