After emerging as one of the top receiving threats at the position over the past two years, Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew is rated as the No. 8 tight end in all of fantasy football for the upcoming season by Ray Guilfoyle of SB Nation. With a star QB in Matthew Stafford making the throws, Pettigrew is a prime candidate to put up strong numbers in 2012.
Since being taken in the first round of the 2009 draft, Pettigrew has emerged as one of the league's top receiving tight ends over the past couple years. Finally paired with a healthy Stafford last season, he proceeded to further improve his numbers, albeit not quite to an elite level.
Last season, the 27-year-old caught 83 passes for 777 yards and five touchdowns, solid numbers from a tight end but not quite at the level of stars like Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham.
