Lions Training Camp: Mikel Leshoure Practices, Stefan Logan Dealing With Ankle Injury

Though he already missed the majority of training camp, Detroit Lions tailback Mikel Leshoure was back at his team's practice on Sunday just two days after being held out of a preseason game.

Leshoure's presence on Sunday was certainly a great sign, but Detroit's backfield situation became further compounded by the fact that returner/scat-back Stefan Logan was held out of practice due to an ankle injury. Logan, a diminutive speedster who figures to see an increased workload in Jim Schwartz's offense this year if he can stay healthy, was spotted on crutches following Friday's game against the Ravens.

Schwartz points out that Logan, his new secret weapon, is merely day-to-day, but there's no denying that Leshoure's name is the one on everyone's minds at the moment. Possessing an ideal power-speed combination and the frame to shoulder the bulk of his team's carries over a full 16-game season, Leshoure appears to have an ideal opportunity to steal the starting tailback gig in Detroit and never look back. Whether he does that or not is a complete mystery, but merely having a talent like Leshoure back at practice is a good starting point.
