The Detroit Lions have signed free agent wide receiver Kassim Osgood. The veteran receiver spent the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and played seven seasons before that in San Diego. For his career, he has caught 44 passes for 749 yards and five touchdowns. However, Osgood is a three-time All-Pro, taking the AFC special teams spot in 2007, 2008, and 2010. He played college football and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, where he set the Division I-AA single-game receiving record, and San Diego State.
Osgood confirmed the signing on his Twitter account:
So I'm a Detroit Lion. Well...still gotta work to make the team! It's so cooooollllldddd in the D!!!

Osgood caught five passes for the Jags in 2011, registering 42 yards, and has not recorded double-digit catches since 2004. Osgood's real value lies in special teams, where he is one of the best gunners in the league. The Lions will be looking for him to contribute in that capacity.
