Lions Vs. 49ers 2012: Pride Of Detroit Reacts To Loss

The Detroit Lions lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 27-19, in front a national audience on Sunday night. Even though the loss was expected, the way it happened was difficult for Lions fans.

Sean Yuille, SB Nation's Pride of Detroit, summed up his feelings on how the closer-than-expected loss might have hurt a little more:

The good news about Sunday night's game for the Detroit Lions is that they weren't blown out like many were expecting. The bad news is that they did in fact lose. They were big underdogs going into the game, and what happened on Sunday night in San Francisco showed why. The 49ers controlled the Lions on both sides of the ball en route to a 27-19 victory. It felt a lot worse based on what transpired during the game, but the Lions only ended up losing by one score.

The Lions hung around for much of the game, always answering whenever the 49ers pushed the lead to two scores. Unfortunately, Detroit was settling for field goals on their trips into San Francisco territory and ultimately came up eight points short.

Detroit is now 1-1 on the season and will try to rebound next week when they face the Titans in Nashville, Tenn.
