Louis Delmas Injury: Lions Safety Still Not Practicing

With the Lions set to open the regular season at home Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, it is still unclear whether the team will have safety Louis Delmas or cornerback Chris Houston available. From Anwar Richardson of MLive.com:

Houston (ankle) and Delmas (knee) are still recovering from injuries sustained prior to this season. Lions safety John Wendling will start against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday if Delmas is unable to participate, while newly acquired cornerback Drayton Florence has a chance to replace Houston this weekend.

The Lions released safety Ricardo Silva Monday to make room on the roster for Florence. Richardson also noted that several Lions who had been battling injuries — linebacker Travis Lewis, running back Kevin Smith, defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch, defensive tackle Sammie Hill, cornerback Bill Bentley, receiver Titus Young, receiver Ryan Broyles and running back Stefan Logan — were full participants in Monday's practice.
