There are a lot of different options for the Detroit Pistons in the 2011 NBA Mock Draft, but one of the more attractive, and popular, is the Pistons taking San Diego St. small forward Kawhi Leonard with their first round pick. According to Kirkland Coleman of the Detroit Free Press, Leonard is one of the names you'll find most when you peruse the Mock Drafts around the Internet. If you don't know a lot about Leonard, here is a little snippet from Hoopshype that is quoted in that article.
"Leonard's impressed scouts with his developing perimeter game and all-around athleticism. He's a player on the rise and could go as high as No. 5 to Toronto. Kawhi is at his best slashing to the basket and crashing the boards. He's got enormous hands and long arms and plays the game with hunger."
The Pistons have taken a lot of project small forwards in the last few years, Summers, Daye and even Jerebko to some extent. But Leonard would be the first guy who isn't a question mark at that position, but an answer. The roster is full of guys that might be NBA players, while Leonard appears to have all the makings of a very solid starter. He might not be a superstar, but in a Draft like this, a solid starter is something I think the Pistons will be very happy to have.
