John Kuester To Join Lakers Coaching Staff If Fired By Pistons?

If Detroit Pistons head coach John Kuester is indeed fired as most expect he will be in the near future, it's likely he won't be unemployed for long. New Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike Brown is putting together his coaching staff, and the former head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers wants Kuester to be one of his assistants, according to the LA Times.

Another coach Brown is interested in having on his Lakers staff is Detroit Pistons Coach John Kuester, two executives with NBA teams said.

Kuester served as an assistant to Brown from 2007-09 in Cleveland. Kuester was hired by the Pistons two summers ago, and Brown was fired by the Cavaliers last summer. Now it looks like the two coaches could be reuniting on the Lakers' staff once Kuester is let go by the Pistons.

While nothing has happened just yet in regards to Kuester's future with Detroit, it seems inevitable that a change will be made once Tom Gores becomes the team's owner. The change in ownership needs to be complete before any moves involving the team's future can be completed, and it appears that is the holdup with making a coaching change.
