John Kuester Fired By Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons have finally fired John Kuester, ending his tenure as the head coach after two seasons. Kuester's demise in Detroit had been speculated about for months, but only now has the decision been made to make a coaching change.

Here is what Pistons team president Joe Dumars had to say about the decision to fire Kuester:

"Decisions like this are difficult to make," Dumars said. "I want to thank John for his hard work and dedication to the organization over the last two years, however, at this time we have decided to make a change."

Unlike Kuester, Dumars isn't going anywhere under new owner Tom Gores. Gores took over the team officially earlier this week and decided to keep Dumars in the fold. They spent the last few days evaluating the roster and coaching staff, and the first move of the offseason -- the decision to fire Kuester -- has finally been made.

Dumars said that although the search for a new head coach will begin "immediately," there is no set timetable to hire a Kuester's replacement.
