Former NBA coach Scotty Robertson, who coached the Pistons for three seasons in the 1980s, died of cancer at the age of 81.
↵Robertson also coached the New Orleans (now Utah) Jazz and the Chicago Bulls for one season each. He joined the Pistons in 1980 and coached three seasons. His last two were his most successful, winning 39 and 37 games respectively. Former Pistons guard Isiah Thomas had this to say about Robertson, who coached him in his first two seasons:
↵↵↵"He was great for us, Kelly (Tripucka) and I in particular," former Pistons guard Isiah Thomas told the Associated Press. "He taught us a lot on and off the court. He was an old-school coach who cared about players. He'll be missed."

Robertson also spent ten years at Louisiana Tech and was a high school coach for over a decade in the state of Louisiana. Here's his coaching record as Pistons coach:
↵1980-81: 21-61
1981-82: 39-43
