NBA Standings 2012: Pistons Face A Long Climb To The Playoffs

Saturday's win over the Portland Trailblazers broke a four game losing streak for the Detroit Pistons, but it was a rare victory in the 2011-12 NBA season. It was just the fourth victory on the campaign for Detroit, and the Pistons are only two of their last 12.

That puts Detroit at 4-13 through roughly a fourth of the NBA season, and they are well off the playoff chase as a result. Detroit is three games behind Cleveland both in the Central Division and for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but New York, Milwaukee, New Jersey, and Toronto are also ahead of them.

Detroit Bad Boys points out that anything positive right now is a step forward:

This was an exciting win not just because wins are fun, but also because the Pistons ended several losing streaks on Saturday night -- a five game losing streak at home, a four game losing streak overall, and a seven game losing streak to the Portland Trail Blazers that dated back to February 2008.
