Pistons Vs. Nets: Detroit's Winning Streak Hits 3

The Pistons have had four losing streaks of at least three games, including a seven-game skid that ended Feb. 1. Now Detroit has a different kind of streak going.

Led by Greg Monroe’s 20 points and 12 rebounds, the Pistons beat the New Jersey Nets 99-92 Wednesday night in New Jersey. Ben Gordon returned for the first time in 11 games to add 14, and Tayshaun Prince had 15.

The win pushes Detroit’s record to 7-20.

Deron Williams had 34 points and seven assists, but it wasn’t enough for the Nets, who are now 8-19 and losers of six of the last seven.

Rookie Brandon Knight played a team-high 37 minutes for Detroit, and that after playing a season-low five minutes in Saturday’s win over New Orleans. Knight finished with13 points, four assists and four turnovers.

The Pistons’ winning streak hasn’t come against the NBA’s heavy-hitters. Their three victims – Milwaukee, New Orleans and New Jersey – are a combined 23-55 on the season. Then again, there’s no shame in winning.

Detroit faces New Jersey again on Friday, this time in Detroit. After that comes a visit from lowly Washington, which is just 5-21. As such, the streak could hit five by the time San Antonio comes to town on Tuesday.
