NBA Summer League: Forward Austin Daye Leads Pistons Over Magic, 79-74

The Detroit Pistons stayed unblemished at 2-0 in Summer League play on Tuesday afternoon, after a 24-point performance from forward Austin Daye helped lead his team to a 79-74 victory over Orlando.

Though he played just 22 minutes in the game, the 6-foot-11 Daye finished 8-for-10 from the field with a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point land en route to player of the game honors. Entering his fourth NBA season, Daye is a hardened veteran of Summer League ball despite being largely unable to carry his strong play over into the regular season.

The ninth overall pick last month, Pistons center Andre Drummond saw game action for just the second time as a pro, but finished with just three points and three rebounds in 21 minutes on the floor. The one-n-done Connecticut standout previously turned heads with an eight-point, five-rebound, four-steal, two-block performance in his Summer League debut on Monday, but did not make the same type of impact in his second appearance.

Next up for the Pistons is a Wednesday game with the Oklahoma City Thunder. From there, Detroit will take on Boston bright and early at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, and then proceed to face Philadelphia the following afternoon.
