Pistons Big Man Greg Monroe Vows To Never Forget USA Select Team Snub

There are only a handful of young big men in professional basketball who can even compare to the production put forth by Detroit Pistons power forward Greg Monroe over his first two NBA seasons. But for as obvious as it might be to Detroit fans that Monroe is headed for stardom, the decision-makers behind the 2012 USA Select Team apparently have no clue what the Pistons' budding double-double machine is capable of.

In addition to being passed over for the likes of Derrick Favors, Taj Gibson, Gordon Hayward, Kawhi Leonard and Lance Thomas for the roster, the 6-foot-11 Monroe was not even asked to try out for the team at all. And he's not exactly happy about being so blatantly snubbed for a one-of-a-kind experience. "No disrespect to those guys on the roster, but looking at the guys on the Select Team roster, I should have been on there," Monroe told MLive.com's David Mayo. "The season I had, I don't know if I was considered, but at least invited."

When asked if he will be planning to use this obvious slap in the face as motivation going forward, the soon-to-be third-year big man was in full agreement, and assured fans that he's always listening. "I don't forget anything – anything," Monroe said. "I remember what people said from high school."
