Jeff Marek of CBC Sports first reported via Twitter that the Red Wings and head coach Mike Babcock agreed to a 4-year contract extension. Fox Sports Detroit corroborated shortly after, confirming that Babcock would coach the Red Wings through the 2014-2015 NHL season.
While the details of the deal were not revealed, it was believed that Babcock's three-year extension in 2008 paid $1.5 million per year.
