Kris Draper To Have Hernia Surgery

Red Wings forward Kris Draper will miss 4-6 weeks after he has hernia surgery on Thursday, according to general manager Ken Holland.

"Draper will have surgery tomorrow and is out four to six weeks,” general manager Ken Holland said. Holland said the Wings won’t put Draper on long-term injured reserve because they don’t need to yet.

Draper hurt his groin in training camp and a sports hernia was discovered earlier this week. The Red Wings can afford to sit Draper for now though, as forwards Johan Franzen and Justin Abdelkader are both healthy enough to return to the lineup.
