Detroit, MI (Sports Network) – Johan Franzen supplied the go-ahead goal in his return to the lineup, as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Calgary Flames, 4-2, at Joe Louis Arena.
Franzen, who missed one game with what was deemed a mild concussion, broke a tie at the 7:55 mark of the third period.
Henrik Zetterberg, Nicklas Lidstrom and Todd Bertuzzi also tallied for Detroit, which kicked off a four-game homestand with its second straight victory. It was Detroit’s first game since last Saturday when they defeated Phoenix in overtime, 2-1
Pavel Datsyuk recorded two assists for the Red Wings, while Jimmy Howard made 34 saves.
Mikael Backlund scored both goals for the Flames, who were denied a third consecutive win. Miikka Kiprusoff was beaten four times on 30 shots in defeat.
