Red Wings 11-1 Favorite To Win Stanley Cup; Hawks Still Team To Beat

The Detroit Red Wings retooled their roster over the offseason, adding Mike Modano and bringing back Jiri Hudler to bolster their third line. Those moves have the guys at bodog.com giving the Red Wings an 11-1 shot of winning the Stanley Cup this season. Here's the top ten contenders for 2010-11:

Chicago Blackhawks 6-1
Washington Capitals 13-2
Pittsburgh Penguins 7-1
Vancouver Canucks 8-1
Detroit Red Wings 11-1
Boston Bruins 14-1
Philadelphia Flyers 14-1
San Jose Sharks 14-1
New Jersey Devils 15-1
Los Angeles Kings 16-1

As you can see, the defending champion Blackhawks are still the team to beat despite losing a bunch of role players in the cap crunch. Eastern Conference champion Philadelphia sits behind Washington, Pittsburgh and Boston, so the Flyers aren't too highly regarded to do it all over again.

Cinderella Montreal just missed the top ten, at 25-1, while Phoenix, Detroit's first-round opponent last year, is all the way down in the 20 spot.

Coincidentally, five teams from each conference made the top ten. Fair and balanced reporting, perhaps?
