The only thing Red Wings defenseman Jakub Kindl has been defending lately is his seat in the press box. That will change for a couple weeks as the Wings have sent the rookie back to Grand Rapids.
↵Kindl will join the Griffins on a conditioning stint after sitting out an entire month as a healthy scratch. Kindl was able to fill in while Jonathan Ericsson and Brian Rafalski battled nagging early season injuries, but Ericsson's resurgent play hasn't left any room for the young rookie.
↵The initial plan was to carry seven defensemen this season, but there wasn't a whole lot of room for Kindl with no injuries and everyone else is playing well. He'll be back, but he probably won't see much ice time unless someone gets hurt or needs a rest.
