Ken Holland Hopes Jimmy Howard Will Be Ready By Tuesday

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said goaltender Jimmy Howard is day-to-day with a bone bruise in his knee, but hopes he’s ready to go by Tuesday.

General manager Ken Holland said this morning that Howard is day-to-day and that "we’re hopeful he’ll be ready to play Tuesday," when the Wings play at Pittsburgh.

Howard was injured when a shot by Columbus’ Derick Brassard caught him in the knee just above his right goalie pad. One thing is for certain: Howard will have extra padding in that spot the next time he takes the ice. In the meantime, career AHLer Joey MacDonald will get a rare start tonight with Chris Osgood on the mend with a groin injury. Thomas McCollum will be the backup.
