The Red Wings have activated star forward Pavel Datsyuk from the injured reserve list, making him eligible to play when the team resumes its regular season next Wednesday in Ottawa.
Datsyuk was placed on injured reserve on Jan 10. He broke his hand Dec. 22 against Vancouver.
As a result, the Wings sent Jan Mursak and Cory Emmerton back to AHL Grand rapids as Detroit also expects to get forwards Dan Cleary and Tomas Holmstrom back in the coming weeks. Mursak played 14 games and scored one goal while averaging 8:31 of ice time. Emmerton scored in his debut and averaged 8:21 over two games.
