Team Lidstrom Fights Back To Tie All-Star Game After One Period

Nicklas Lidstrom’s All-Star team fell behind 4-0 in the first six minutes of Sunday’s matchup with Eric Staal’s squad, but fought back with four unanswered goals to tie the 58th annual NHL All-Star game at four after one period.

Alex Ovechkin scored 50 seconds into the game, followed by goals from Paul Stastny, Patrik Elias and Claude Giroux to build a 4-0 for Team Staal.

Team Lidstrom responded quickly, with Anze Kopitar getting on the board at the 10:50 mark with a nice backhander over Carolina goalie Cam Ward. Kopitar’s tally was followed by goals from Dustin Byfuglien, Loui Eriksson and Matt Duchene within the next six minutes of play.

Pittsburgh goalie Marc Andre Fleury started the first period for Lidstrom and surrendered all four goals.
