Red Wings Sign Goalie Prospect Petr Mrazek

The Detroit Red Wings are looking for a long-term solution at goaltender, and they may have found it. Highly-touted prospect Petr Mrazek was signed to a three-year entry level deal and he will begin his pro career next year. Mrazek was Detroit 5th round selection in the 2010 entry-level draft, and has been a solid performer with a 50-26-2-3 record, a 2.84 goals-against average, and .916 save percentage with the OHL's Ottawa 67's:

Mrazek, 19, is expected to begin his pro career next season, either with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) or the Toledo Walleye (ECHL).

The 19-year old prospect is considered to be solid for his athleticism according to Hockey's Future:

Not the largest goaltender, standing 6’0 and weighing 184lbs. He possesses a great deal of athleticism and does not give up on shots. Mrazek has been touted as a great competitor, who also has great vision, which makes up for his lack of size.

It will take some time for him to get to Detroit, but he looks like a solid future prospect.
