The Detroit Red Wings are off to a solid 5-1 start to the 2011 NHL season and they will look to continue that this week with a pair of road games sandwiched around a home game against the San Jose Sharks. The Red Wings travel to Columbus on Tuesday night to face the struggling Blue Jackets, who are currently last int he Central Division with just one point from seven games.
Detroit's only home game this week is Friday night at Joe Louis Arena. The Sharks have gotten off to a slow start this season with only six points from six games. they have won two in a row heading into this week, however.
Detroit then has a quick turn around on Saturday night as they head to the Minnesota Wild for a game between to of the early top teams in the Western Conference. The Wild have nine points from eight games and are tied for second in the Northwest Division.
