Just like the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Red Wings started the season with five straight wins. Also like the Lions, the Red Wings have since lost two games in a row, dropping their record to 5-2 on the season.
The Red Wings' second loss of the season came on Tuesday night in Columbus. The Blue Jackets picked up their first win of the season by edging the Red Wings by a score of 4-1.
The Blue Jackets got goals from R.J. Umberger, Ryan Johansen, John Moore and Derek MacKenzie in the victory. Detroit's lone goal came in the first period and was scored by Darren Helm, who netted his first of the season.
Ty Conklin was the starting goalie for the Wings in this game. He started and got wrecked by the Washington Capitals last Saturday, and he gave up three goals on Tuesday night. The fourth goal came with an empty net when the Red Wings were on a power play in the final minutes of the game.
The Red Wings will look to get back to their winning ways on Friday night at home against the San Jose Sharks.
