Red Wings Send Gustav Nyquist Back To Grand Rapids

So much for the Detroit Red Wings acquiring more offensive production from within. After recalling Gustav Nyquist from the Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday to try and add some spark to a Red Wings team that had scored four goals in their last four games, it appears it's just a quick trip for him and he's on his way back down, according to Helene St. James:

Quick trip for Nyquist: He's already been sent back down to Grand Rapids

There's no word yet on who will take his spot on the active roster, but that's a pretty big lack of faith there. Nyquist made his debut against the Minnesota Wild and had a quiet game, playing 11 minutes and generally being invisible on the ice. He debuted on the second line with Johan Franzen and Todd Bertuzzi. His offensive "spark" couldn't help Detroit in their 2-1 overtime loss, and they've now scored just five goals in five gams, all of them losses.
