Red Wings Vs. Ducks NHL Preview: Detroit Back On Ice To Complete Road Trip At Anaheim

The Detroit Red Wings will be back on the ice tonight after beating the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Saturday night, when they make the short trip to skate against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday at 8:00PM ET.

Jimmy Howard put forth a strong goal-tending effort in Detroit's win last night and will be looking to build on that game as well as his strong history against Anaheim. Howard recorded a shut out earlier in November when Red Wings beat the Ducks 5-0, keeping Anaheim scoreless on four power play opportunities. The Red Wings defense was strong as well forcing Howard to only deny 22 shots for the game.

The Ducks may have been hoping Howard would take the night off on the back half of back-to-back games but according to this report, Howard will be in the net for Detroit.

At the other end of the ice, the Red Wings will also look to keep rolling in the right direction. Pavel Datsyuk scored two goals against the Kings to make his presence while Justin Abdelkader scored for the first time in 15 games.

Anaheim will look to snap a three-game losing streak which includes back-to-back losses to the Kings in their last two games. The Ducks should be well rested with two full days off since their last game. The Ducks are led by Teemu Selanne with six goals and 12 assists on the season while Corey Perry leads the team with seven goals.

The Red Wings will be looking to wrap up their four-game road trip on a positive note. After dropping the first two games on the trip to St. Louis and San Jose, a win tonight will allow the Red Wings to return home 2-2 on the trip as they try to keep pace in the tight Western Conference Central Division race.
