The Detroit Red Wings lost right winger Patrick Eaves in a scary scene late in the Wings' 4-1 win on Saturday night over the Nashville Predators.
With the win secured and the game clock winding down to 2:15 in the third period, Eaves was hit in the face by a shot off the stick of Nashville's Roman Josi which instantly left Eaves laid out on the ice. Eaves came to and was eventually removed from the ice on a stretcher with the home crowd chanting his name.
According to Ansar Khan, Eaves spent the night at Detroit Medical Center with a broken jaw.
Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Eaves suffered a fractured jaw Saturday night when he was hit by the puck on a shot from Nashville's Roman Josi with 2:14 to play in the game.
The club said in a release that Eaves will be further evaluated over the next several days to determine if surgery is required. No timetable has been set for his return.
