The Winnipeg Jets are in town Saturday night for their first and only game this season against the Detroit Red Wings. It should be a good one, too, because both teams are playing top-notch hockey.
The Jets are riding a four-game winning streak after defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 last night. The Red Wings have won eight of their last ten, their last win coming on Thursday against the Phoenix Coyotes.
The Red Wings should have the advantage on Saturday night, though. The Jets apparently didn't get to sleep until around 4 a.m. this morning after flying in from North Carolina and the Jets are already poor on the road, having only won only four of 15 on the road this season. Plus, the Red Wings have taken care of home ice pretty well this year, winning 11 of 14.
Pavel Datsyuk's status was up in the air, but it sounds like he'll be ready to go. Jimmy Howard, who boasts a 1.89 goals against average and .930 save percentage, is expected to be in net.
While this will be the first and only game between these two teams this season, they will play each other six times next season when they are in the same division.
