Red Wings Schedule: Detroit Heads Out West

For more on the Red Wings, visit SB Nation's Wingin' It In Motown.

The Detroit Red Wings will spend this week on the west coast as they travel to face many of their Western Conference foes. Detroit has slipped to third this week in the Central Division, trailing St. Louis by a point and Chicago by five points. Saturday's 8-2 win over the Kings has given Detroit a boost headed into this west coast swing.

The Red Wings' trip begins tonight at Rexall Place where Detroit will face the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton currently sits well out of the playoff hunt with only 31 points. They are in last place in the Northwest Division, but they are a solid 9-5-2 at home. Edmonton has lost three straight.

The week continues on Wednesday as the Red Wings visit defending Western Conference champion Vancouver. The Canucks are 7-2-1 in their last 10, which has allowed them to close on Minnesota for first place in the Northwest Division. Following Wednesday's game Detroit has a quick turnaround. They play at the Calgary Flames on Thursday to finish out their Canadian week.
