Red Wings Vs. Blues: Detroit Loses Second Straight 3-2

A seven game winning streak for the Detroit Red Wings has now become a two game losing streak. The St. Louis Blues used a pair of third period goals to top the Red Wings 3-2 in St. Louis. David Backes broke a 1-1 just 45 seconds intot he third period to put the Blues in front for good. Less than two minutes later Patrik Berglund made it 3-1 in favor of the homestanding Blues with his sixth goal of the season.

Jiri Hudler scored on a power play for Detroit with 1:20 left, but the Red Wings could not get any closer in the final minute. Johan Franzen scored his 13th goal of the season to give Detroit a 1-0 lead in the second period, but it was answered by Alexander Steen's ninth goal of the year.

The St. Louis victory moved the Blues into a tie with Detroit for second place in the Central Division.
