The days of watching Jakub Kindl give opponents prime quality scoring chances are over.
The Red Wings received good news today when they learned that defenseman Brad Stuart has been medically cleared to play when Detroit visits Tampa Bay on Thursday. Stuart missed the previous six weeks after having his jaw broken by Calgary’s Tom Kostopoulos Jan. 7.
“Probably a couple pounds (less than before), which isn’t a bad thing. (Conditioning) is about as good as it’s going to get without being in a game,‘’ Stuart said. "I feel like I’m ready. Game situation is a little different thing, but it’s exciting to get back."
Stuart’s return means Kindl will head back to the press box as the the team’s extra defenseman. Kindl showed his rookie mistakes at times this season, so Stuart’s veteran presence will be a welcome sight.
