Report: Paul MacLean To Be Hired As New Senators Head Coach

Detroit Red Wings assistant coach Paul MacLean is set to be named the new head coach of the Ottawa Senators, according to TSN. MacLean interviewed for the job earlier this month and has been talked about as one of the favorites to land the position. Now, on Tuesday, it appears he will be officially announced as the Sens' head coach.

What this means for the Red Wings is they have to fill two vacancies on Mike Babcock's coaching staff this offseason. First, Brad McCrimmon decided not to return and landed a job in Russia. Now with MacLean set to take a job with the Senators, the Red Wings will have to find two new assistants for next season.

With some head coaching vacancies still needing to be filled, chances are the Red Wings will have to wait a bit longer to fill their own vacancies. Many of the potential assistants they may be targeting could be in the running for head coaching jobs, and until those positions are settled, the Red Wings really can't hire anybody.
