Stanley Cup Finals 2011: Canucks Upend Bruins On Last-Minute Goal

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals went down to the wire, as Vancouver’s Raffi Torres beat Boston’s Tim Thomas with 18 seconds left to break a scoreless tie and give the Canucks a 1-0 victory.

Torres beautifully redirected Jannik Hansen’s pass by Thomas, who had stopped the previous 33 shots he faced.

Vancouver controlled the play for the most part, but the Bruins had their chances as well, peppering Roberto Luongo with 36 shots. Boston couldn’t drive any past him though, and failed on all six of their power play opportunities.

Game 2 will drop the puck at 8 p.m. Saturday on NBC.
