Justin Abdelkader Flies With Blue Angels

Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader got to ride along with Lt. David Tickle on an F/A-18 Hornet on Wednesday. The Red Wings set up the session after Abdelkader expressed interest in getting ride along with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Since the Blue Angels are scheduled to take part in an air show in Ypsilanti this weekend, Abdelkader headed to Willow Run Airport on Wednesday for a 40-minute ride.

While in the air, Abdelkader flew over Michigan Stadium. Since he went to Michigan State, Abdelkader joked that he wished the F/A-18 had some bombs on board during their flight.

"We were joking around (when) we flew over Ann Arbor, went over the Big House, if we'd had a couple of bombs on it (the jet), maybe we would have dropped a couple on there."

The Red Wings posted some pictures of Abdelkader's experience, including one where he presented Lt. Tickle with a No. 7 Red Wings jersey.
