Red Wings Re-Sign Goalie Jordan Pearce

After signing Ty Conklin earlier this week, the Detroit Red Wings are set at goalie for next season. Jimmy Howard is set to return as the starter and Conklin will serve as his backup. In case either player suffers an injury, Joey MacDonald will be in Grand Rapids waiting to be called up.

While the NHL roster is good to go at goalie, the Red Wings made one more move this week to add some depth. The team re-signed goaltender Jordan Pearce, who is expected to spend next season in Grand Rapids with the Griffins.

Last season in Grand Rapids, Pearce had a 20-15-5 record. His goals against average was 2.89 and his save percentage was 0.908. Before moving up to the AHL, he spent some time with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye and had a 3-4-1 record with a 4.13 GAA and a 0.883 save percentage.

Had Pearce not been offered a deal to return to the Red Wings organization, he would be getting ready to apply to medical school. Now that he's back for at least two years (the length of his new deal), medical school will once again have to wait.
