NHL Preseason: Red Wings Lose To Blackhawks In Chicago, 4-3

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Marian Hossa's power-play goal less than nine minutes into the third period was the difference as Chicago downed Detroit, 4-3, in preseason action.

Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook also tallied, while Ben Smith added a goal early in the third before leaving the game after absorbing a hit to the head from Detroit's Brendan Smith.

Smith was given a match penalty for the check, which came at the 5:26 mark of the third, and Chicago cashed in during a two-man advantage after Wings defenseman Doug Janik was whistled for interference 23 seconds prior.

Fabian Brunnstrom scored twice and Drew Miller lit the lamp once for the Red Wings.

Corey Crawford made 17 saves for the win, and Ty Conklin surrendered all four goals on 24 shots in defeat.
