The Detroit Red Wings had a pretty good chance to takeover the St. Louis Blues in the Central Division and win into a tie for the top spot in the Western Conference by facing off against the Eastern Conference's worst team on Tuesday night. Instead, they got flat out embarrassed.
The Islanders made back up Ty Conklin, who is filling in for the injured resting Jimmy Howard, look like a manhole, scoring five times on 30 shots. Matt Moulson victimized him twice, his 19th and 20th goals of the season.
The Red Wings really didn't do anything well. Head coach Mike Babcock had this to say about the game:
The Red Wings fell to 11-13 on the road, so luckily they'll have three in a row at home, starting on Thursday against the Coyotes.
