Red Wings Vs. Coyotes Final Score: Detroit Wins In Shootout, 3-2

The Detroit Red Wings rebounded from an embarrassing 5-1 road loss to the dreadful New York Islanders with a come from behind 3-2 shootout win against the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night in front of the home crowd at the Joe. It was the Red Wings' 13th straight home win.

Detroit answered goals by the Coyotes in both the first and third periods before scoring twice in the shootout. Valtteri Filppula (15) scored at 19:04 in the first on a slap shot that deflected off the defenseman's stick and over Coyotes' goaltender Mike Smith's shoulder to tie the score at one apiece.

In the third period, Johan Franzen (17) scored on a tip-in at a little over the 10-minute mark to tie it at two apiece. That would be all the scoring in regulation and overtime before Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, back from a one-game hiatus, scored a shootout goal each. Jimmy Howard sealed the win, the 100th of his NHL career, by saving the final two shots in the shootout.

The Red Wings are back at it on Saturday against the Blackhawks again.
