After a thrilling overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Detroit Red Wings will try and continue revving up their momentum against a faltering Buffalo Sabres team. The Sabres have only won a single game in their last five, a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The losses have been to subpar teams like the Islanders and Jets, with injuries and general incompetence holding the Sabres back from the potential they were supposed to show in 2011/2012.

A fun subplot of this game will be Sabres goalie Ryan Miller meeting Red Wings left wing Drew Miller, his brother. The two have played each other three times before, and family ties are always fun to watch in sports. The more important subplot will likely be the potential record breaking performance the Wings can put on tonight; a win at Joe Louis Arena tonight would be the 15th victory at home in a row, which would be their club record.

The Sabres are unlikely to make it easy for the Wings, even in their long list of defeats in recent weeks Buffalo has kept it close in pretty much every game. Mike Babcock said that the record isn't on his mind, but it's sure to be on the minds of all the fans at the Joe, waiting to see the Wings make the arena officially into an absolute fortress. The last loss by the Wings at home was November 3rd against Calgary, and they don't look close to stopping any time soon.
