Red Wings Vs. Stars NHL Preview: Detroit Trying To Improve Road Record

The Detroit Red Wings are 2-3 in their last five road games, but have an opportunity to pick up a good win on Tuesday as they take on the Dallas Stars, who the Red Wings beat on the road earlier this month. Either way, the Red Wings are winners in their last three games, all of them at home, out-scoring their opponents 11-4 over that period of time, including a 5-0 shutout of the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.

Dallas is reeling, having lost two straight and being unable to put together a solid winning streak since Dec. 10, when they won three games over a five-day span. That was their high point, sitting at or near the top of the Pacific Division, but they've since gone on to lose sporadically and underwhelm. One thing they've generally been able to do is put points up on the board, something the Red Wings haven't had a problem with, either.

The key to this one will clearly be to get ahead fast. Of course that's what you want to do in every game, but the best way to weaken an offense is to give them an uphill climb. Detroit should also be confident, having taken both of the meetings between these two teams this season. This will be the third of four.

It's set to go down at 8:30 p.m. eastern and can be seen, as always, on Fox Sports Detroit.
