Red Wings Vs. Canadiens: Montreal Tries To Slow Down Red Hot Detroit

The Montreal Canadiens are probably lucky that they're facing the Detroit Red Wings at Bell Centre rather than Joe Louis Arena, but the two teams are so far apart in the standings that it's still going to be quite the task for Montreal to overtake the red hot Red Wings at the moment.

Detroit have won 17 straight games at home now, three away from an NHL record of home dominance. In general they have a seven game winning streak as well and have won the last four meetings with their Original Six brethren in NHL play. Montreal's playoff hopes are starting to dwindle with each passing loss and their only consistent player recently seems to be goalie Carey Price.

Again, the fact that the game is at Bell Centre gives the Canadiens a bit of hope but the powerful Red Wings offense and defense against two weak units in Montreal doesn't spell a great matchup for the Habs. Detroit will be going for their eighth straight win and all the cards are on their side to boost their lead in the Central division.
