Flyers Vs. Red Wings: Philadelphia Tries To Defend Home Win Streak Record Against Detroit

Two proud NHL franchises meet with the Red Wings looking to for a record win.

The Detroit Red Wings have won 19 consecutive home games and have a chance to tie the NHL record for most consecutive home wins in a season when they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday night.

The Flyers will be plenty motivated to take on the NHL's top team as it is, but considering Philadelphia owns a share of that consecutive home wins streak, they will have a little extra motivation to protect the record for the franchise.

Detroit kept the streak alive after sneaking away with a win on Friday over the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 after a shootout. Todd Bertuzzi slipped a shot by Jonas Hiller for what would be the game-winner score in the shootout after Joey McDonald deflected the Ducks' final attempt by Bobby Ryan.

The Red Wings maintain the NHL points lead, having won four of their last six games. The Flyers on the other hand arrive in Detroit struggling of late after losing four of their last five games.
