Red Wings Vs. Coyotes Score Update: Detroit Down 2-1 After 2nd Period

The Red Wings finally broke through against Coyotes goalie Mike Smith, as Johan Franzen slotted home a power play goal with 2:36 remaining in the second period. Detroit, however, still trails 2-1 to the Phoenix Coyotes after two periods the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix.

Following a shorthanded, unassisted breakaway goal by Boyd Gordon in the first period, Martin Hanzal adding to the scoring with a power play goal for Edmonton in the second period, before Franzen brought the Red Wings back to within a goal.

Coming off a shootout loss in Edmonton, the Red Wings actually have a chance to make it three wins out of five on their five-game road trip, but they will need a comeback to make that happen. Detroit scored three goals in the third period before ultimately falling in Edmonton on Saturday.
