The gap between the Red Wings and the Predators in the Western Conference standings was narrowed on Saturday night win Nashville took down Detroit 3-2 on home ice. With the win, Nashville is just four points behind Detroit for the fourth seed in the conference.
The Red Wings couldn't find an answer for the Kostitsyn brothers, as Andrei netted a pair of goals while Sergei added a pair of assists. The two were reunited by a deadline trade that sent Andrei from Montreal down to Nashville; the two had previously teamed up as Canadiens as well.
Drew Miller netted his 13th goal of the season for Detroit with his first period strike, and Justin Abdelkader put home his ninth score of the season in the third period. Ultimately, the Red Wings couldn't solve goalie Pekka Rinne late, and the Predators escaped with a victory.
