Red Wings Vs. Ducks NHL Preview: Detroit Continuing California Trip, Trying To Snap Losing Skid

The Detroit Red Wings are losers in their last two outings and unsurprisingly, their last two outings have been away from the Joe Louis Arena. That will hold true for their next two games as part of an extended stay in California, with games against the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks before returning home.

Game one of that California trip was their most recent outing, a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings. Detroit was out-played a good portion of the game and simply doesn't look like the same team on the road. Luckily for the Red Wings, they've got the Ducks up next, and they're in a bad way. The Ducks have lost their last three outings, all on the road, but took their last two games at home, so there's that.

They play six of their next seven at home and could benefit from that, and certainly will be confident with the Red Wings coming to town, but they may be too far gone at this point. It also doesn't help them that the Red Wings have won the other three matchups this season, allowing just three goals to the Ducks over said three game.

Detroit is hoping that Jimmy Howard will look better in net after missing three-straight games with a groin injury. His return was the poor showing against the Kings, but that could just be due to being rusty, with multiple injuries in recent months. Either way, we've got a great team with road struggles up against a poor team that is slightly better at home - should be interesting. The game is set for 10:00 p.m. eastern on Wednesday.
