The Detroit Red Wings picked up their second win of the week on Friday night, rolling over the Minnesota Wild, 6-0. The win gives Detroit a 43-19-3 record along with a two-point lead over St. Louis in the Western Conference standings.
Goalie Jimmy Howard earned his sixth shutout of the season. Howard turned away 19 shots from the Wild on his way to his 32nd win of the season.
Valtteri Filppula scored twice and added an assist in the win. Henrik Zetterberg scored Detroit’s final goal, the only score in a chippy third period, and assisted on two.
The win was the second in a row for Detroit. They beat Columbus on Tuesday night, using a soft spot in the schedule to get back on track after a three-game losing streak. They host the Blackhawks on Sunday.
